    GSM software can be used to control packaging material stocks and the time required to pack items for despatch.

    The user selects a product code for the item to be packed by scanning a barcode from the menu card. Required quantity of products to be packed is then entered.
     
    Alternatively a Goods Receipt Note (GRN) containing the product code and the quantity can be scanned.
     
    The software will print a pick list of all the packaging materials needed to pack that product. It will also show how long it will take to complete the pack.
    When the pick list is produced the stock of packaging materials is automatically updated.
     
    Concurrently the correct box end label for each item to be packed can be printed on a thermal transfer printer. The label may contain the product description, part number, customer, supplier etc. The correct shipping label for the stillage or shipping container is also produced.
     
    GSM packaging management software will link to GSM Odette Master and provide Odette barcode labels when required. (LINK)
     
    Capacity planning / packaging stock control
     
    If the number of parts expected to be despatched during any specified time period is entered onto the system it will report on the total packaging materials to be used. The report will highlight any inadequate stock quantities. Total operator time required to pack all the parts can also be estimated.
